July 20, 2025

This morning just before 0930 your Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to assist Narberth Ambulance with an injured patient on the “Yellow” trail at the Rolling Hill Park.

This is a challenging call for all of our Public Safety team members due to the length and amount of trails that encompass the Rolling Hill Park which is also joins the Mill Creek Park. One of Narberth Ambulance’s Paramedics and a Lower Merion Police Department officer was shown where the patient was located with the assistance of a helpful community member that came upon the patient.

Once we determined where the patient was located, we moved the operation to the old Barkers Mill on Mill Creek Road as it would provide easier access and a shorter walk to get to the patient and the Paramedics.

The crew from Engine 24, Special Service 24 and Utility 24 (which included 4 EMT’s) started the walk into the patients location. Conshohocken Fire Company No. 2 was dispatched to assist us with ATV55 to assist in removing the patient from the wooded area in a safe manner.

Once the crews accessed the patient they assisted the Narberth Ambulance Paramedics and started to carry the patient out in a stokes basket approximately 150 yards to where the trail opened up and the ATV could meet the team carrying the patient out. The patient was loaded up onto ATV55 and all of the rescuers assisted in bringing the patient all the way down to the roadway where the patient was transferred into the ambulance and transported to the hospital.

We would like to wish the patient a speedy recovery and give a special shout out to to Conshohocken Fire Department for assisting us this morning.

Thank you to ALL of our Public Safety Teams that worked hard in the early morning heat to help safely remove the patient.

Units: Engine 24, Special Service 24, Utility 24 and Command 24

Mutual Aid: Lower Merion Police, ATV55, ATV55-1 and Medic 313-5
