Just before 4am last night, Gladwyne Firefighters were alerted to a fire alarm in district. Our firefighters always respond to alarms as a true emergency. Just as engine 24s crew was arriving on location, a second 911 caller got on the line reporting her basement was on fire and they were getting their family out of the house. Engine 24s crew backed up to their planned hydrant, laid their own supply line, and stretched a 400’ preconnect to make entrance to the “Charlie” or rear side of the home for basement fire attack. Ladder 24 arrived moments later positioning on the “Alpha” or front of the home with a long set back. Due to a working alarm system, a fast response, and a home escape plan, this fire remained very minor and no injuries occurred to our neighbors.
