Your Gladwyne Firefighters have been busy since our last Facebook post!
Early on Monday morning, Engine 24 responded to Upper Merion Township to assist at a house fire. Our firefighters assisted for a couple of hours until being released from the scene.
First thing on Tuesday morning, Engine 24 was dispatched to assist the Weldon Fire Company and the other Abington Township Fire Companies at a large warehouse / manufacturing plant fire that was burning. Engine 24 responded and pumped water to the scene for just under 6 hours and the crew assisted in fighting the fire until being released by next oncoming relief crews.
Our training night was our 2nd night of our Haz MAT Operations referesher class which Gladwyne hosts each year for the Township. Over 110 firefighters attended class and received their Haz Mat OPS recertification.
Early on Saturday morning, Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to assist Bridgeport Fire Company with an apartment building fire with multiple people needing rescued from their balconies and their apartments. Ladder 24 responded and was originally the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) but upon arrival was assigned to the front of the building to assist with removing residents from their balconies. Ladder 24 remained on scene for just under 2 hours.
In addition to these significant calls, our firefighters responded to 18 additional calls for help from our community.
Please remember that when our trucks and firefighters are assisting our neighboring firefighters, we have additional firefighters standing by in our station to handle any emergencies in our own community.
THANK YOU to all of our GFC Members and their families who support all that we do to help protect our community. |
