Just as Gladwyne Firefighers were finishing up their Thanksgiving evenings with their families and friends, Radnor Fire Company was dispatched to a house fire on Walnut Ave in the Wayne section of Radnor Township. Upon arrival of Radnor Police they reported heavy smoke from the building and that there was a fire. Chief 15 (Maguire) requested the working fire dispatch be transmitted.
8 Gladwyne Firefighters responded immediately in Engine 24 to assist RFC. Upon arrival Engine 24 took a position on the hydrant pumping the street line up to Quint 15 (Radnor) while the crew deployed up to the scene. Command re-assigned Engine 24’s crew from RIT to the 2nd and 3rd floor fire attack. Engine 24’s crew assisted with extinguishing the fire and opening up the walls and celings in the 2nd and 3rd floor until the fire was completely extinguished.
Air 24 was dispatched to the scene to fill the firefighters SCBA (air) cylinders that were being used in the fire. Air 24 responded with 3 additional firefighters and ultimately filled 45 air cylinders.
An additional crew stood by in Gladwyne while the Engine and Air truck were in Radnor assisting with this fire.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family that was displaced on Thanksgiving due to this fire, but fortunately there were no serious injuries to civilians or firefighters during this incident. |
