Your Gladwyne Firefighters were extinguishing a large mulch pile on fire…..
We were also joined by our friends from Belmont Hills Fire Company and also George Clay Fire Company - Station 39.
Just as the sun was starting to come up, Gladwyne, Belmont Hills and George Clay Fire Companies were dispatched to the Expressway for a “Brush Fire”. The caller was on the highway going Westbound and observed a big pile of mulch on fire off the highway.
Engine 24 (Gladwyne) responded directly to the Township Mulch Pile at Waverly and River Roads (as this was likely the culprit) and Squad 22 (Belmont Hills) and Squad 39 (George Clay) checked the highway.
Once confirmation was made that it was the mulch pike, both Squad 22 and Squad 39 were directed to assist Engine 24 and Engine 24-1 with extinguishing the large pile of mulch.
A Township front end loader was also requested to assist in pulling the pile apart.
Firefighters were on scene for an hour and a half.
Thank you to all of our GFC firefighters along with our friends from Belmont Hills and George Clay.
Have a great Saturday! |
