Multiple Apparatus Updates For Gladwyne FirefightersGladwyne firefighters, with the support of Lower Merion Township have been working diligently to design replacement apparatus for our fleet, some planned, and some unplanned. Teams have traveled all over the country meeting with multiple manufacturers to insure the best products for our local and team are purchased, at the most reasonable cost possible.

First, due for replacement is our 2008 Seagrave Engine. This Engine has served us well and is due for its 15 year replacement. Through lots of hard work, considering multiple bids and options, a contract was picked for a 2026 E-One Cyclone Engine. This engine will significantly improve hose deployment, firefighter safety, and on board equipment options for our team. The engine will utilize a Whelen Core lighting control system to slow and dim LED warning lights to make safer scenes on highway and roadway incidents.

Next due for delivery this month is the replacement for our swift-water rescue boats. Our 2012 boats have affected multiple rescues and saved many lives in the hands of our skilled swift water rescue team. They are being updated with two Zodiac MilPro Grand Raid Mark 2 with Tohatsu four stroke 40 hp motors. The trailer is built by RESCUE-One Mid-Atlantic will be a double stack automatic drop down trailer.
