Just before 0900 hours this morning, Station 24 (Gladwyne Volunteer Fire Company), Station 25 (Merion Fire Company of Ardmore), Engine 23 (Bryn Mawr Fire Company), Ladder 26 (Narberth Fire Company) and Squad 22 (Belmont Hills Fire The homeowner reported a kitchen on fire. Upon arrival of AC24-1 (Culbertson) he reported smoke from the rear of house. This transmitted the Lower Merion Township working fire dispatch which brings additional resources to the scene including Penn Wynne Fire Company - Station 21, Union Fire Association, Conshohocken Fire Company No. 2, Narberth Ambulance and Lower Merion Police Department.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire and opened up the area to ensure no additional fire spread was occurring and ventilated the smoke in the house.
Thank you to the stand by crews George Clay Fire Company - Station 39, Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company and Manoa Fire Company - Station 56 that covered Lower Merion and handled a fire alarm in Bala Cynwyd while we were busy at this fire scene.
