Saturday morning around 0815 hours, Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to assist Merion Fire Company of Ardmore with a building fire at the Dry Cleaners on Cricket Ave. The call was originally dispatched as a fire alarm and upon Engine 25 arriving, they found a fire in the building. The call was then upgraded to a confirmed building fire which brings Engine 24 as the RIT and Air 24 to the call along with all of the other Lower Merion Fire Companies, Narberth Ambulance and a RIT team from Manoa Fire Company in Haverford Township.

Engine 24 responded during the dispatch with 5 firefighters and arrived as the 2nd due Engine, which command requested they lay a second water supply line from the hydrant up the street. This was accomplished and the crew was then assigned to deploy a 2nd handline to assist the crew inside fighting the fire.

Air 24 filled 17 SCBA Cylinders that were used by the firefighters inside fighting the fire.

While the Engine and Air truck were in Ardmore, Gladwyne Firefighters staffed the station for any other calls that were received.

Gladwyne Fire Company is always recruiting for new volunteers, please stop in and inquire if you are interested. There is always somebody there (unless we are on a call)
