Early Morning Truck Fire

Just before 6 am this morning Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to a truck on fire at the intersection of Conshohocken State Road and Youngsford Road. As Firefighters were responding to the firehouse, you could see the flames and smoke from the truck from the firehouse! Upon arrival of Engine 24 we found a dual wheeled pick up truck towing a large trailer that had 3 other vehicles on the trailer. The pick up truck was well involved in fire and to add to the already dangerous situation, there was a fuel tank mounted in the back of the pick up truck with fuel in it. Crews immediately pulled two hose-lines off one to extinguish the fire and the other to keep the fuel tank cool so that it did not catch fire with the truck. Gladwyne Crews were on scene for just over 30 minutes extinguishing the fire and cleaning up so that the early morning rush hour would not be affected.
