| Saturday night, firefighters, board members and local diplomats gathered at the Philadelphia Country Club for a send off of sorts to President, Tom Zug, who served as President of the Gladwyne Fire Company for 15 years.
Emcee of the nights event was Deputy Chief, Andy Block, who worked under Zug for 8 years during his time as Chief. As retirement parties go, there were many gag gifts and laughs, plus shared stories of Tom's tenure. Perhaps the most memorable moment of the night was when Zug modeled a hair piece given to him as a gift for all the hair he has lost over his 15 years. Some thought Davy Crockett had entered the room once he tried it on!
In all, the night was a great time, to commemorate a great man. We thank Tom for all of his time and dedication to the fire department over the years. Much of what we have, and what we stand for today, would not be possible without his accomplishments. |
